How to train using flight simulator?

• Spend plenty of time practicing on the Flight Simulator (FMS), especially on Stage 4.

• Complete all the 4 stages (you can find it in the FMS note).

• Remember the 6 words for orientation: TURN LEFT,  PULL,  COUNTER BACK RIGHT,  TURN RIGHT,  PULL,  COUNTER BACK LEFT.  (You have to pull to make the plane/kite do a turn. If you just turn without pulling, the plane/kite will eventually fall. Once you turn you have to counter back to resume level flight.)

• Try not to make large actions/movements and rest your thumbs on the sticks without letting go, if not your plane/kite will jerk and sometimes you will loose control of it.

Seek Qualified Instruction

We would always recommend that any novice flyer should first join a local hobby flying club if practical and seek expert instruction in the basic techniques of Radio Controlled model flying. A list of BMFA affiliated clubs can be found on their website www.bmfa.org.

As a member of a club affiliated to BMFA, you will normally enjoy Public Liability insurance. If it is not practical to join a club, you can purchase insurance at reasonable cost as a "Country Member" of BMFA using the website above.

How to launch the kite?

• For a start, try to find an open space area with soft ground e.g. field to train.

• To launch, throttle to about 60-70%. Once you feel the kite lifting up, throw softly at about 15 degrees angle. Standby to pull up just in case the kite falls. But  remember, just small actions, and when flying throttle should be less then 50%.

• Fly at a slow and steady speed first and don’t try any stunts yet. Practice flying to the left and then to the right, followed by figure of 8. Try to do a soft landing first instead of catching it.

• If your kite is falling and you feel nervous, immediately cut off throttle and pull up the elevator stick (both sticks down).

Where is the Center Gravity (CG) for the kite?

• Measure from the front rod of the kite and put fingers at the far corner of the CG spot and balance kite with battery and rudder attached, both aileron flaps straight.

How will I know when my battery is low when flying?

• Keep a lookout on the front white LEDs of the kite. Once it starts to dim down when you power up, you should change the battery.

Do not over discharge the LiPo battery as it will be spoilt.

• Check that speed controller is plug in correctly into channel 3

• Channels 1 and 2 are for the servos

• Channel 3 is for the speed controller.

How long should we charge the battery for the 1st time?

• Battery charging should only be 1- 1 1/2 hours for the 1st and every time of charging. Disconnect  the battery once it is fully charged.

  •  What servos are needed to be reversed on the Transmitter?

Only standard digital servos need to be reversed on the transmitter.

There is no need to reverse on the transmitter for advanced servos (e.g. Hitec HS-65HB).
